Across the Curriculum

Participants engage in a process of periodic Principal-led sessions (typically two weeks apart) with work done between sessions.

"Between Sessions" work includes:

• Reading new material and in some cases reviewing a video. All materials are available on a password-entry website made available to purchasers.
• Assessing how the new material correlates to actual experience and how it could help the learning process.
• Applying best practice teaching methods learned (or remembered) in a prior session.
• Analyzing and assessing what worked during that application, what didn't, and why.

"Session" work includes:

• Discussing new material in small and large groups and determining how it can be used in the school's environment and circumstances.
• Discussing experiences gained in the classroom application of material from prior sessions and how to make changes for improvements.
• Planning new application of materials for the next "Between Sessions" timeframe.

Literacy Across the Curriculum moves your students from "reading and taking a test" to thinking more broadly about subjects using all language skills in an integrated manner.

Tests are still required, but your students will achieve better results because research has shown over and over that learners in an environment of inquiry and exploration, not one that is just answer-oriented, do better on standard tests.

The ability to integrate all language skills when dealing with new ideas improves the ability to fully think about, understand, and incorporate those ideas.
